Not Only about Design:

While the design of a home is certainly important for creating an aesthetically pleasing and functional living space, it is ultimately secondary to the structural elements that make the building safe and secure. In fact, many design features can be altered or updated over time, while structural issues require more immediate attention and can be much more difficult and expensive to fix.

Additionally, a home’s structural integrity can impact its energy efficiency, insulation, and overall comfort level. By investing in quality construction and ensuring that a home’s foundation, framing, and other structural elements are sound, homeowners can enjoy a safer, more comfortable, and more durable living space for years to come.

Hands On Experience – View My Portfolio

I’m proud to say i’m diverse in my design capabilities. Some projects from the past include a major renovation to original flat roof Mid Century home and a 1920’s Tudor,
New Build Modern Victorian in Historic area, modern farmhouse & complete revamp of a lake house.

Recently completed – Quick ship furniture, art, decor as well as window covering sourcing and selection for a multi million dollar new build in St.Louis remotely done from Edmonton.

In contrast, completed a budget friendly furniture & design for a retired couple downsizing to a new home I sold them in Edmonton.
Everyone of these projects came with a unique set of challenges.

Coming soon! a 1950’s Bungalow renovation here in Edmonton & a unique triple garage with attached guest house.

What makes me different is my vast real hands on experience. I feel it takes years of immersing yourself into the projects and working along side contractors to truly understand the renovation and building process, details and cost behind everything. From Initial Concept, architectural Drawings, permits, demo, foundation, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, layout, cabinetry, drywall, finishing, furniture and Interior decorating.

I am knowledgable with product costs and the concept of ROI. Many of the homes I have touched have been sold within a few years of purchase.
I understand what upgrades can help with the sale of a home and where money should and shouldn’t be spent, this is of course dependant on individuals goals (renovating, building a home for long term versus making improvements or staging a home with the goal of a profitable sale)

I am a true believer in not fighting with a exsiting home to try to make it something it is not! but rather working with the home, highlighting features and making spaces unique, functional and special.
To me good design is about creating a practical, functional & beautiful space that flows throughout your home which reflects personal style, aesthetically through design.
It’s not always about the current trends! these have to be approached with caution as they can date a home quickly.

In real estate every client has unique needs, wants and goals; this is the same for home design.

I do not have formal training but can illustrate my hands on experience.

Fun fact: My Current home was featured in EDIFY MAGAZINE (summer 2022) and on the BE home tour

Furniture, Decor & Staging

Staging and interior design are two distinct practices, although there is some overlap between the two.
Staging refers to the process of preparing a property for sale or rental by strategically placing furniture, accessories, and decor items to enhance the overall look and feel of the space. The goal of staging is to create an attractive and inviting atmosphere that will appeal to potential buyers or renters and help them envision themselves living in the space. Staging is often focused on neutralizing a space, removing personal touches, and creating a cohesive look.
Interior design, on the other hand, is the process of planning and designing a space to meet the needs and preferences of the occupants. Interior designers consider factors such as function, style, colour, lighting, and layout to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Interior design often involves working with clients to understand their tastes, needs, and budget, and may include selecting furniture, fabrics, finishes, and decor.
The 3 D’s of staging a home are:
  1. Decluttering
  2. Depersonalizing
  3. Decorating

Yes! Depending on your individual circumstance staging can be done with your own furniture and belongings.

There are also options such as virtual staging as well as bringing in furniture and decor from a staging rental company.
Studies have shown that staged homes often sell faster and for higher prices than non-staged homes. By creating an inviting atmosphere and highlighting the best features of the property, staging can help potential buyers envision themselves living in the space and can make the property more appealing to a wider range of buyers.
Staging can also help to make a property stand out in a crowded market, which is especially important in areas with many similar properties for sale. By presenting the property in the best possible light, staging can help to attract more potential buyers and increase the likelihood of a successful sale.
Overall, staging is a valuable investment for anyone looking to sell their home, as it can help to make the property more appealing to potential buyers and increase the chances of a successful sale.
I offer a variety of staging services, some complimentary if you list your home with me.
Worried about keeping your home in perfect order while its listed, I can help with tips and trips for quick clean up etc.
